Advertising dollars are pouring into online video

This year has been a very good year for online video advertisement. It is estimated that video advertising will grow 48% in 2010. Many industry analysts are seeing television dollars moving to online video which is very encouraging as affiliates grow their video presence.

While TV advertising still dwarfs online video with $70 billion spent, online video advertising is estimated to reach $1.5 billion this year, up from $1 billion last year according to eMarketer.

Small shifts in advertising budgets from TV to online can create large swings in growth for online video. TV advertisers eager to match their TV reach are moving to online video that is deemed to be safe and professional. While still lagging behind, there are signs that local TV advertisers will soon start making those online allocations as well making it even more important to have a video presence online.

Time to move in Colorado and beyond
The Colorado High School Activities Association is promoting a program to get every school in the state broadcasting their games. We applaud the effort of the association but firmly believe that the newspapers can and should play an important role in promoting and monetizing those video broadcasts.

We have always supported the idea that papers be partners with their local schools and we think it is important for papers all across the country to be first movers in this medium. Don't be caught playing catch up.

There is money to be made in every market with this program. Contact us today if you aren't already a member and we'll put you in touch with Affiliate publishers who are adding to their bottom lines with iNK Barrel.

What our Affiliates are saying
From Lloyd Craig: General Manager of the Winfield Daily Courier
"A huge thank you to all of you, and we are thankful for iNK Barrel. Your support has been fantastic and your help has been good for us. As you know we had some learning to do and made a few mistakes during football season BUT those mistakes helped us get ready for basketball season and sales have been very good. The one thing we have learned during the sales process is we probably priced things too cheap as a lot of our ad spaces were snapped up very quickly…which is a good problem to have because we can always fix the pricing down the road."

Basketball Is Upon Us
With so many new affiliates joining the network and gearing up for the basketball season, the network schedule of games is continuing to grow.

Don't forget to add your games to the list. The sooner you do, the easier it is for other papers to identify away games or other notable games they can sell in their home markets. (And don't forget to keep an eye on the schedule yourself. There are opportunities there.)

Also, if there is a paper in your conference or league that you would like to see on the network, feel free to reach out to your colleagues there or drop us a line and we'll follow up. The value of the network grows for everyone with each new game - and each new affiliate.
